The camera doesn't work with the transcend cards. I don't know why. The data is actually recorded onto the card but you cannot play the video back on the camera (after you've turned it off once), nor transfer it to your computer.

If you have a separate card reader you can transfer the files to your computer (they are on the card but not recognized by the camera). Photos are handled just fine. Initializing doesn't solve the problem. I ended up paying a few more bucks for a lexar 32gb sdhc class 4 card and it works wonderfully. Just something about the transcend card, I guess. Hey thanks a lot for sharing that SDHC card info. I'm about to order a similar one as well for my Canon Vixia HF20, which I bought just today.I was wondering if you could help me out some other questions.
Once I transfer videos to the SDHC card do I need any special software to upload onto my Vista Professional laptop? And if I can how easy is it to edit the video? Please let me know as I'm flying oversees middle of next week and am scared I'd end up not knowing how to use the camcorder. Also what kind of spare battery would you suggest?
I'll be honest, I am not the one to ask about transferring and/or editing video, as I really don't have much experience. Hopefully, someone else on the forum will answer that.
I have purchased additional batteries for my Canon Vixia HF200. I went with the extended-time replacement for the BP-819. You can get them fairly cheap at Amazon.com or on eBay. The original Canon batteries are too expensive in my opinion.
The only downside is that the non-Canon batteries do not have the proprietary software within that enables the camera to tell you how much recording time is left - no major deal if you have a spare. Hope I helped somewhat.
